Comet

COMET or "Commercialising Emerging Technology" program operated by AusIndustry is designed for early stage and high-growth companies. Eligibility criteria require a company to be less than 5 years old and have turnover of not more than $5 million over the past two years.

The funding provided under COMET is designed to assist the recipient company accelerate the commercialisation of specific innovation developed within the business. COMET recipients also benefit from working with a Business Adviser to help guide the business through the process. It is all about reducing the risks associated with commercialisation. Funding is also available to improve and develop Management Skills.

The COMET grant is used to fund the costs of external specialist consultants and service providers to assist with such things as Market Research, Business Planning, securing Intellectual Property, development of the Management Team, completing the testing of technology or confirming validation of the performance of the finished product. Some funding may also be made available for the completion of pre-production proto-typing.

The funds can not be used to fund internal working capital needs or any Research and Development work.
